Thats why Some awesome people invented jailbreaking!

I'm quite glad that Apple decided to remove the built in Youtube app and Google Maps app - It now gives google control over the app and if the new, awesome youtube app is anything to go by, the app Google will bring out for maps should be awesome!

I do have a question tho - why has Apple not got in to trouble about forcing everyone to use mobile safari? Microsoft got in to all sorts of trouble by bundling Internet Explorer as the default web browser and with windows, you can actually change the default browser to which ever browser you want? iOS, you can install other browsers, but the set in stone (unless you jailbreak) default is crappy safari.

Agreed, safari is uber sheiz, but you do get nice ad ons for it tough that makes it okay i guess, but i prefer opera mobile even mini , much faster and less data hungry. The only downside it's not as compatible with a lot of webpages as safari is.

I think you will find that you are wrong. You can now get chrome for iOS.

The problem is that you do not browse the web on an iOS device, you browse Apple's cached version of the web.

You cannot change the default web browser on iOS devices (unless you jailbreak.)

With Chrome, if you open links whilst using other Google Apps, you can open them in Chrome.
That is not the same thing. I want all the links from every app to open in another browser, not Safari.

EDIT: And I don't want to use Chrome - I love Atomic Web on the iPhone, that's what I want to make the default.

Is that the same review others are slamming for being a "journalist joke"?

PS: I don't know if it is (a joke), nor do I particularly care, just curious though.

@ ryan post a full article and not macrumours ;).

iPhone 5 benchmarks: Slower than the Galaxy S3, faster than the Nexus 7

So clearly the S3 is faster but as Anand said (curious I cant find his benchmark results even though your image is using his style) you cant compare.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6298/anal ... ch-results
Although Geekbench is cross platform, I wouldn't recommend using this data to do anything other than compare iOS devices. I've looked at using Geekbench to compare iOS to Android in the past and I've sometimes seen odd results.
Just trying to clear the mud ;).

To those of you who have the 4 (non-S), would you consider this a worthwhile upgrade?

It's a worthwhile upgrade even over the 4S.

A few scenarios you can run while near the queue of the people waiting for the iphone 5.

1 - Spread the rumour that the iphone 5 has been delayed for 5 days as a marketing stunt by apple to count up to 5!

2 - Talk about how apple said they sold out all the stock online so stores wont be getting stock this week or that only a few will be sent to stores.

3 - Walk by the guys near the front talking on an iphone saying that the truck broke down around the back of the queue so they started selling from that side.

It's a better phone. How is that not a worthwhile upgrade? I'm not suggesting that if you have a year left on your contract and you have to fork out the cash for the iPhone 5 that you should upgrade without question. But if you've been saving cash for a new phone and have it on hand, I don't see why not.

iOS 6 is having teething issues with Wifi...

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/09/ ... Stories%29
Multiple Wi-Fi Issues Plague iOS 6 Upgrade

While most people are seemingly enjoying the transition to iOS 6, others are experiencing a Wi-Fi meltdown on at least two fronts.
Apple’s tech support site is inundated with customers who have updated their iPhone 4, 4S and third-generation iPad to iOS 6 and can no longer access Wi-Fi. According to the comments, after the over-the-air update, the Wi-Fi indicator is greyed out and their phones are unable to access a local network.

A secondary issue that seems to have been resolved was related to iOS devices being redirected to a test site page meant to determine if a device is behind a paywall. However, devices were landing on a 404 page instead of getting a “Success” message. Although the Wi-Fi connections were working, it was confusing to those who hit it. Apple has subsequently updated the page to fix the 404 error.

We’ve reached out to Apple about the Wi-Fi issues in iOS 6 and are awaiting comment.
If it happens to anyone on here try going Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset Network Settings. From what I have seen this seems to solve the problem.

Seems like it might be worth waiting until they sorted out the faults with iOS6.

What would it take to make an iphone 5 worth buying?

No issues for me, been running it since Beta 1 and haven't had a problem. Just updated my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 to the final release.

No, that would make an upgrade to Blackberry worthwhile.
