Apple may be notoriously secretive and tight lipped, but the company appears to be getting worse and worse at actually keeping things under wraps. The iPhone 5 appears to be the most leaked handset in existence. Thankfully, the suspense is over, the next-gen iPhone is finally here and it does, in fact, go by the numerical title of 5. Just like the parts that have been circulating on the web, this is a glass and aluminum two-tone affair and, at 7.6mm it's a full 18 percent thinner than the 4S (though, contrary to what Tim Cook said on stage, one slide has the iPhone 5 at 8mm even). It's even 20 percent lighter at 112 grams, which is even less than the mostly plastic Galaxy S III. It's all those "magical" things and it packs a larger 4-inch in-cell display. The new version of Apple's Retina panel is 1136 x 640, which clocks in at a more than respectable 326ppi. It also sports better color saturation with full sRGB rendering. That new longer screen allows for an extra set of icons to be displayed on the home screen, and first party apps have already been tweaked to take advantage of the additional real estate. The iWork suite, Garage Band and iMovie have all been updated. Older apps will still work too, though they'll be displayed in a letterbox format until an update is issued. The tweaked ratio puts the iPhone 5 display closer to 16:9, but it's not quite there.

It looks ugly in black, the white version looks better.
But still, meh. Could they not fit a 720p display, no NFC? My precious Sony has those

SauceApple Sues Apple As IPhone Found Copied From Earlier Versions
In a major turn of events, after running out of companies to sue, Apple has decided to sue itself for $10 Billion. Apple says that Apple knowingly and wilfully copied its own products and failed to innovate.
“Look at the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS; they all look very similar. Now look at the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S; they are almost the same,” said an Apple lawyer. Apple says that it has a patent on squares with rounded corners, which Apple copied for the last 4 years.
All iPhones are copied from each other, claim Apple lawyers.
People have been mislead into buying newer products, year after year, which are basically the same. However, Apple says that it was building on its own innovation and design patents shouldn’t apply in this case.
The judiciary system in the US is absolutely stumped. They are already convinced that Apple has shamelessly copied Apple, but are not able to decide how to go about the case. It is the first time in history that a company has sued itself.
Some analysts believe that this is a very smart move by Apple. If Apple loses the case, and pays 10 Billion USD to Apple, it might serve as a precedent for future cases. Some believe that it is marketing ploy by Apple, after being reportedly out of any tech coverage for over 4 hours.
The lawyers at Apple’s legal department were found to be having a huge party near the campus in anticipation of the huge pay check that they hope to receive from Apple, as well as Apple.

ICS isn't game changing enough to make iOS fans suddenly prefer Android. It's better than Gingerbread, but I still prefer iOS.Hman wrote:Dude, do the ICS update already.ADT wrote:I'm not a hater, but android just doesn't do it for me, and I've got 2 devices running on androidHman wrote:Or lucky depending on how you look at itryanrich wrote:It also runs Android, unlucky.Hman wrote:My precious Sony has those

Re: iPhone 5 officially announced
Move over to Jelly Bean.
Seriously though. the new iPhone is behind when compared to the Galaxy S3
Mashable Comparison
No SD card.
Battery life sucks
and the S3 is half the price (American Pricing)
The iPhone 4S was good and i was interested to see what the iPhone 5 would bring to the table.
If it blew me away i would have switched, but i don't see a point now. The iPhone 5 had a few more weeks over the S3 to update hardware after S3 release.
I am not comparing the Android system. just the hardware.

I don't root or jailbreak phones. The official Samsung South Africa release of ICS hit just a couple of weeks back for the Galaxy Note. When do you think Jelly Bean will be available for my phone?DeathStrike wrote:Move over to Jelly Bean.
On the other hand, how long will I have to wait after 19 September for iOS on my 4S?

I use 7 widgets on my phone, but the ones that REALLY make it worth it are the 1 touch controls for bluetooth, wifi, 3g and GPS, and the widget showing my data usage.D3PART3D wrote:One of the gimmickiest android "features" IMO.GreyWolf wrote:no-widget

Re: iPhone 5 officially announced
I'm not impressed at all.
Where is the innovation, Apple? Where is the game changing idea?
The iPhone 5 appears to just be an iPhone 4 upgrade, not the leap forward the '5' implies.

I have that one too and it's great, but it's the only one I've ever really used. Usually they're either totally useless or are too big to fit more than a couple on the home screen... which kinda misses the point of having widgets in the first place. They're supposed to be about instant info and easy access, no?GreyWolf wrote:the ones that REALLY make it worth it are the 1 touch controls for bluetooth, wifi, 3g and GPS.
Also, why the @#$% can't I disable unused home screens. (has that been fixed?) </OCD>
