32gb flash won't format in ntfs
32gb flash won't format in ntfs
Hi guys
I have a 32gb flash drive that I can format in fat32. When ever I try and format it in ntfs windows 7 is unable to complete the format on quick and long format.
I ran a chkdsk and doesn't seem to find any problems.
Anyone know of any solutions?
Thanks

Did you change the option in properties/policies to 'optimize for performance'?

You didn't buy this 32GB flash drive from a street vendor at a traffic light, did you? I'd like to assume not, but I have found myself assuming far too much in that regard in recent times.

My brother did that.
TWICE!
Dunno what he was thinking. The fact that the first one was a dud should've told him that they're bad karma.

I have a friend who did this, and strangely enough he had exactly the same problem that is being described hereStuart wrote:You didn't buy this 32GB flash drive from a street vendor at a traffic light, did you? And did he learn, no. He went out and got another one

Joking. He's older than I am. So you might be friends with his daughter, my favourite niece.
And then you don't want me to know.

Re: 32gb flash won't format in ntfs
Yeah, 99% sure that "32GB" stick is a fake
Open it up, and check the capacity - should be a make and model number printed at the back of the memory chip
Google that and it will tell you what you actually have.
Probably a fong-kong 1GB stick
Well done on falling for a seriously old scam

Well, I guess we all do that. I even clicked on the "You are the millionth visitor! Collect you prize!" banner once and had an online virus checker tell me I was infested, only to be infested by the program I downloaded. Some people just have to make the bulk of the mistakes others learn from, to test the rope bridge as it were.

I only buy from people that pays taxes.
But if it formats FAT32 it should format NTFS then?
