I hope this is the right place for this.
For the last 2 months or so, I've been trying to connect to Steam, but every time I attempt to log in, it brings up a message saying "Steam is having trouble connecting to the Steam server". I am unable to play any steam games (Skyrim being the major one right now), so this is extremely frustrating.
I have Windows 7 64 bit.
If anyone is able to help out, I'd appreciate it.

Re: Steam issue
2 Questions:
1: Any firewalls? Maybe something is blocking your connection to Steam eg: firewall and or peerblock applications?
2: Downloading items in the background? I know it sounds strange but I have had a issue where Origin was downloading updates for BF3 sucking all the bandwidth which caused Steam to bomb out.
Other than those I dont really know.

Re: Steam issue
If you are sure there's nothing on your system interfering with Steam, reinstall the Steam client - see if that helps.

Re: Steam issue
Hey ive also got some steam issuses...
Trying to install COD: Modern Warfare 2 for a client.... After endless problems im installing it on my pc, to copy over the game files later. The problem, After installing the 11gig game (the folder size in "steam apps") Steam still wants to download another 11 541Mb (ie, approx 11.5gigs) which is completely crazy. Anybody know if this is right or if steam is confused?

Steams backup and restore process is lacklustre to say the least. But if you follow these procedures you will usually win.
