windows live is rejecting my userame/password

Hi today Itried to connect my grandparents gmail account to their phone but they could not rememer the password correcly. So now windows live is rejecting my password.

I then connected to the account via www.gmail.com and it accepted the username and password.

I then changed the password on gmail and canged it on windows live but it still says that the server rejects the username/password comination even after I changed it.

It is running win 7.

He is perhaps using a Gmail addy for Windows Live Messenger?
