Re: Inside Google+: How the search giant plans to go social
Better the devil you know IMO... but I'll give this a smash if it ever gets really popular...
I mean, if you have personal information on facebook that is more detailed than your name, the city you live in and where you went to school etc you have serious issues.
I see people post their full date of birth, full addresses and real phone numbers all the time... if you are one of these people, stop using social media altogether and get off the internet.
Otherwise you're just being paranoid.

Lol, Google could very well be the bigger and more evil entity, but personal feeling towards it I prefer google.
Seriously other than young naive girls and guys (more girls I think) who puts more personal stuff in there? They could make millions just by adding this field
'Enter bank credentials here'
I think my biggest mind set it I view google as a more innovative company and facebook the sellout

So Facbook, the company who perfected this whole social media thing are the sell-outs.. while Google, who have ripped off every good idea every had by anyone with varying degrees of success are the innovators?Cupis wrote:I think my biggest mind set it I view google as a more innovative company and facebook the sellout
I was not aware that you lived in opposites land
Re: Inside Google+: How the search giant plans to go social
Well innovate is to take some concept and make it better. I think google does that? Ok facebook did a invention/innovation effort thing, but I just get the feeling that money is almost the only drive for them.my biggest mind set
but in the end everyone could disagree with me My opinion is not gonna change even if I am in backward land

Everyone is just talking about "ditching" facebook. COME ON! You know that won't happen. You're just adding another social network to your lives. Something interesting happens and you're going to post it on facebook, Google+ AND Twitter. Something is cool on facebook and you'll copy and paste it to Google+. You're going to have the same friends on both and everyone is just going to end up living a double-social-networking life.
Re: Inside Google+: How the search giant plans to go social
Fair enough, that will most likely happen. Its not like you have a choice anyway, with the 'never delete profiles' that facebook has, just have them hidden away until you come crying back

Guess what: Coca Cola is also in it for the money. Microsoft too.
How is this news again?

Grab your Google+ short URL here: http://gplus.to/
That assumes, of course, that you are on Google+.

it will consume us
I just have one worry about Google. Like M$, its vying for World Domination. On the one hand, the SEO ways of tailoring adds just for you might have some interest to some people. However, I worry that the human race will become so its-all-dished-up-for-me-in-a-neat-little-pile that they will stop thinking for themselves. Like a sheep dog being guided to things someone else wants them to see/hear/acknowledge/know/buy.
With Blogger and Picassa being merged with the Google name, it will all just become one big conglomeration. Where will it end? How much of ourselves are we giving away online if ONE company knows that much of us? Even our searches?

"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

Invites are open again!

Prolly because it was DEAD without the ability to invite friends.

I know what you mean. Trying to get some of my friends invited will need me to be with them to talk them through it.

Re: Inside Google+: How the search giant plans to go social
The most useful thing about it from my perspective is the circles. Instead of sharing stuff with all your "friends" like on Facebook, you add your friends to circles. You can then share certain things with only certain circles. Or you can select specific people. It's really customisable as to who you share what with, which can be quite useful. Problem is, with the closed testing, I only have like nine friends on there, so there's really not much helping. Everyone still has more friends on Facebook, which means that Facebook is necessarily going to be busier.
It automatically adds as suggestions all your contacts in Gmail. Haven't seen any connection to Skype yet.

Hmmm, wonder how R or X-rated it will be within closed circles. Have been reading some of the privacy policies, and I found both you and Anakha. Seems that the Google search will allow you free access to posts if it catches the keywords. Wonder if one now will have loads of Google+ posts first in a Google search?

Made a Stream post and used his email, added him to a circle. Any other methods?

Re: Inside Google+: How the search giant plans to go social
You're supposed to make a circle called "invites" (or whatever you want to call it) then make a post and share it with that circle.
I've not invited anyone yet, but that's the theory of how it's supposed to work.
