Coming on the heels of the recent announcement that the True Crime and Guitar Hero franchises will no longer be published, it appears that several other Activision studios will see a reduced staff roster or face closure in the near future.

I still wish Blizzard never signed off with LActivision...

Doubt it, Blizzard will be their biggest business unit with the highest revenue, sure they'll keep that well on track.KillerByte wrote:I just died a little inside.Drakonis wrote:Diablo III delayed?

Gamesindustry.biz wrote:While boss Mike Morhaime claimed that "I'm not saying that it's going to be 2012 - I'm just saying that there isn't a date yet", parent firm Activision Blizzard's outlook for the next financial year did not include a Blizzard game. Its predicted revenue for fiscal 2011 was $3.95 billion, down from $4.45 billion for fiscal 2010.
Activision Blizzard CFO Thomas Tippl hinted that the games could yet be some distance off. "In the long run Blizzard is good for one major release a year.. but the quality of the game had to be there. "Compromises on the game quality" was something "we would never do."

I don't get it. I had Diablo 3 dated as a 2012 release somewhere. However the new Starcraft 2 expansion I dated as 2011 because of traditional expansion paterns.

Diablo 3 as said was a 2012 release, end of the world n all. However SC2 expansion should have been this year. All this means is that the releases we see from LActivision this year will probably be console ports and lacking the PC depth. Also probably re-runs of previous games...

I don't have a problem with Blizzard taking as long as they need to produce a game they are happy with.
I didn't die waiting 10 years for Startcraft II, and waiting another 2 years for Diablo III wont kill me either...

I don't mind waiting for D3 (well actually I do) but I'll be satisfied if they can just release Heart of the Swarm in the meantime. Why is it though that WOW Expansions seem to never be delayed?!?

Re: Activision closures, GH DLC dropped, Diablo III delayed?
Who nets the biggest profit for Blizzard? Blizzard needs to keep WoW "fresh" in order to have the required income to make the other games. At least thats how I see it...Jonboy wrote:Why is it though that WOW Expansions seem to never be delayed?!?

Re: Activision closures, GH DLC dropped, Diablo III delayed?
But is the profit from WoW going into other games? I see Blizzard as the company that has the most potential for new franchises. They produce 1 game a year until WoW got released and only last year have we seen the first other game they released in a while. They have canned both Lord of the Clans which in turn got turned into a novel and then Starcraft Ghost that got turned into a story character for Starcraft 2.
The more I hear about Activision the more I feel that Blizzard won't be able to keep their promise they made to gamers when they raised the Activision banner.

Re: Activision closures, GH DLC dropped, Diablo III delayed?
I don't know. Never followed DK. If they said it was to be realeased on a date and wasn't, then yes, it was delayed. If it never had a release date then, no it wasn't delayed.
