Does anyone here know about Metrofibre Networx?

Hi all. Some guy pulled into our offices and had a talk with out boss about connecting us with fibre optics. He left behind a leaflet.

Has anyone ever heard of these guys? I found an article on mybroadband, but am just curious about their reputation.

vodacom's version of metro connect... i think..

we use metro connect's network for fail-over and backups... it's relatively solid... we have 4 grids we're attached to so we remain up as long as one of them is up...

Yeah, thats the article I was referring to. Can you explain to me what exactly is it that they are offering in laymans terms? Thanks man.

they're laying fibre throughout the metros, (primarily running through existing infrastructure like water/sewer) - you've likely seen those coils of multicoloured pipe lying around...

the benefits of the system is the grid... if some tjop cuts through the line running in one street , chances are good you're still up because the street behind you is fine... (fail-over depending on the number of connections you're paying for).

it's slightly cheaper and faster than ADSL and a damn sight more dependable...

i should point out that this isn't a browsing line... you can purchase a break-out for browsing which would see net traffic pushed to a standard ADSL line.
