This is a bit of an obscure one but: Vampyre, The Masquerade, Bloodlines.
It was buggy as hell but the tone, writing, action and superb dialog scripting made it a cut above the rest; I still play this game occasionally.

My personal favourite - Batman AA. While not strictly a PC game (cross-platforms) it's style and story absolutely captivated me.

I agree! It was one of those games where you actually felt like you were doing something or were apart of it. It really was a great game. Pity aboot the bugs though...I remember waiting for the patches to come out so I could get to the next section in the game due to it bombing...lol...

For me Half-Life is one of my all time favourite games...such a great long journey through black mesa that I will never forget...now if they would only finish black mesa mod so I can replay it with the new (albeit slighty old) engine!

Arkham Asylum and Bloodlines are fantastic games! :D

I've played through EfBB and it most definitely deserves a spot on the list. I had my doubts at first, but it really is good. A mix of great stealth, melee, and fps gameplay all in one, and problems often have more than one solution.

half-life: opposing force. this game had the most amount of weapons, different pistols, machine guns, alien weapons and a range of explosives. Half-life 2 was epic, now just waiting for half life 2 episode 3 and half-life 3!

System Shock 2.
Was one of the finest Fps-Rpg's in my collection.
To bad EA took one half of the license.

Don't get me wrong dead space and dead space 2 was stunning.

I'm really missing the old Blizzard. Either the internet or their recent business actions has compromised their games. The magic just isn't there anymore.
