EA releasing free-to-play Battlefield

Post by Drakonis »

Is this win?
Electronic Arts revealed last week that they would soon be releasing a free-to-play Battlefield multiplayer title on the PC. The company has already released Battlefield Heroes, a microtransaction funded casual shooter but the upcoming Battlefield Play4Free will be focused on the Battlefield Bad Company and Battlefield 2 franchises

free-to-play as in I download and play? Or as in I pay for the game then play free online anyway?

This is EA. I suggest ppl have their spyware scanners set to maximum security.

It'll be free to download and play. I'm guessing that it'll work in a manner similar to Turbine's re-release of D&D Online, with the game being funded by microtransactions.

Imagine you have to buy your gun unlocks and stuff. Once again it falls back to the gold farmer principle in WoW. You can buy gold to get items and such but in the end it destroys the game and experience behind obtaining those hard to get items.
