I like keeping all kinds of handy apps on my external hdd just in case my pc crashes one day and then I don't have to search through cds etc.
Is there a way that I could boot off my ext hdd after formatting my pc and maybe install mobo drivers and all my apps?
I know there's some app where u can save all your drivers into a exe file then after a format it will install all your latest drivers,so I wanna use that and then install all my favourite apps.

Re: can i boot off an ext HDD?
Yes you can boot off of your external HDD. I would recommend setting it up to use a Win PE or Linux Live CD environment.
I have something similar - my ext HDD has my 7 installer, ghosting tools, diagnostic tools and such on it, allowing me to boot off it and redo my PC when needed.
Another partition has all my drivers and apps ready for when a clean install of 7 has been done.

Come to my place and we will make it happen!!!! Wont be hard to do.... must firstly update all your drivers to latest driver, i have an awesome app for that... then we use driver genius to make an installer of your new drivers, then put the apps you want on and sweet! all we need to do is make a partition and we set.... we will make it bootable...
