German gamers getting censored version of Black Ops

Gamers in Germany will only be getting a censored version of Call of Duty: Black Ops. The changes will be made in order to make it acceptable for release in that country. This is far from the first violent title to be censored in Germany

I sometimes wish they would release the original and then the cut version of the game and let the gamer decide which one he wants. Look at WoW for the chinese. You cant even call that WoW anymore.

I'm not so sure about the Mick Jagger song, but I, for one, applaud Germany for cutting down on the violence.

Unfortunately I dont. As far as CoD goes I never saw limbs flying and the blood in the game was always a minimum when you compared it to games like Unreal or quake. Maybe it's a few scenes they are sneaking in that gets the game censored but if it's stuff like Nazi signs and it was part of that era maybe it is over censored? Then again Wolfenstein doesnt get released in germany.

Wolfenstein was released in Germany. It was heavily censored though, all Nazi emblems and the like were taken out.

Seriously if a game has mature content in it, slap the mature sticker on it. It is the parents responsibility to censor what should be seen or not seen not the governments. Someone remind me again is Germany a dictator or democracy state? Seems to me that its a dictator state...

Is violence mature content? Don't they only use that for the more raunchy type issues?

Fine if violence it is then use PG-13. Why censor a game? I can understand the whole Nazi thing however even that should not be completely censored. One has to learn from history after all...

Otherwise we should censor anyone who mentions the word apartheid as well.

Well tuned down violence isnt a problem is it? I mean if the guy bleeds out a glass of blood no one will complain. But I can see Mortal Kombat not getting released because its blood is like a firehose. And MK is all about the blood.
