The official Maemo / Meego thread.
Seeing as the Android boys don't want me spoiling their fun with the plain superiority of Maemo and it's pending successor Meego I thought I'd start a thread regarding these smartphone OS's.

Re: The official Maemo / Meego thread.
Here's a list of useful stuff I've got on my N900:
MyPaint - A painting/sketching program that's pressure sensitive and features a heck load of brushes
QtIrreco - A awesome infrared remote control program, with a database of pre-configured remotes it's dead easy to use
Xournal - A handwriting note application
Rootsh - Enables root access in X-Terminal using 'sudo gainroot'
OpenSSH - Lets you SSH into your phone via a SSH client on your pc over Wi-Fi
Power User Kernel - Adds various functionality at kernel level, I find it very stable and enables overclocking the CPU.
QCPUFreq - A GUI for setting the maximum CPU speed, if you don't have the Power User Kernel you can use it to limit the maximum CPU speed.
Firefox Mobile - A mobile version of Firefox
Opera Mobile - Opera Mobile for Maemo
And lots more.....

Good luck getting this thread active. I'd be willing to bet that you're the only Maemo user on this forum

^ Fanboy. Maemo is superior to Android. Now leave us.DAE_JA_VOO wrote:Good luck getting this thread active. I'd be willing to bet that you're the only Maemo user on this forum

No no, I'm not expressing any form of Fanboyism. I'm just saying - Android is used significantly, significantly more than Maemo, in terms of Mobile OS usage, and despite that, there are only about 5 or 6 of us here on the whole forum with Android phones, which suggests that the chances of other maemo users being on this forum are pretty slim.

Re: The official Maemo / Meego thread.
I haven't checked for a SSH client for my phone yet, but there's a good possibility that there is one. The intended pc would need a SSH server running.
But what I can't wait for is the port of samba, I know that it's in the development/testing stage, that would allow me to connect to windows networks.

Firmware update PR 1.3 is available for installation.
I installed it, and will test it tonight, supposedly it brings some stability and speed improvements.
