Greg Goodrich, the executive producer on the upcoming Medal of Honor reboot, has said while speaking to The New York Times that the first-person shooter needs to sell over three million copies in order for there to be a sequel. This was apparently in response to a question on the game’s budget in June this year

Re: Medal of Honor needs to sell 3 million copies
I guess for a game going gold and making 1 million sales isnt good enough anymore then. Starcraft 2 only shows about 1million ppl on battle.net online and thats with both wow and sc2 with 30-35k games a night. Steam shows 1-2.5m gamers online during a days cycle.

Re: Medal of Honor needs to sell 3 million copies
i believe this is known as pressure marketing...
"buy 3m copies or we shoot this puppy! do you hate this puppy!? then why are you making us shoot this puppy!?"...
MoH has always been a 'meh' title... i fail to see why anyone should care...

Re: Medal of Honor needs to sell 3 million copies
To me Medal of Honor will always be remembered as that playstation title that got first person shooters a console spot aswell as that flood of first person shooters back in 2000 with the release of quake 3, unreal tournament, medal of honor allied assault, counter strike, return to castle wolfenstein, operation flash point... the list is long.
I still think that hitting the 1million sale mark should be the immediate goal with hitting maybe 4million or more the long term plan. The million mark however is the pc mark. I remember HL2 going gold shortly before its release in pre-orders. The console market overseas is bigger and can easily yield those numbers. But with everything if everyone is making the same type of game your gonna compremise. Halo Reach released or releases tomorrow and for xbox owners that's a big name. Black Ops is a CoD game and will attract gamers. How many people will go for Medal of Honor when 2 major titles are out and soon to be released?

Re: Medal of Honor needs to sell 3 million copies
Er... no. They had their chance. From CoD4 the franchise was noes diving with stupid ideas. MW2, scrap dedicated servers and add a match making system that kicks you around. Black Ops, let's have dedicated servers but give a company sole rights to its usage meaning if they arent in your country your screwed.
I'm leaving WaW from this list because it continued from MW but the feel just wasnt as good as that of MW.

Ja, I'm hoping that this MoH picks up where COD4 left off.

Re: Medal of Honor needs to sell 3 million copies
We had BFBC2 and it was a minor change of pace but not a replacement. MoH will be playing closer to BFBC2 than CoD wont it?
Re: Medal of Honor needs to sell 3 million copies
i actually never tried BFBC2
