Post by Mike_J.M »

sit closer?.. :P

wireless is always slower than wired, and always going to play victim to any environmental interference...

what line speed, which ISP, what router... these play a major part in the answers provided...

how high is your ping..

where are you located...

i was guessing somewhere near 300... at 900 i would:
1) reset the router, (physically power it down/up).
2) use a physical wired connection to omit any local interference.
3) try swapping out PPPoE credentials, (if possible)
4) try swapping out the router, (if possible)
5) log a support call with telkom

has anything about your setup changed recently?

via command prompt probably best

Ping the server name you are linked to. Or try the "tracert" command, might be a hop somewhere giving grief.

Go Start -> Run. Type "cmd". Type "ping server-name". Take note of the results it gives.

Or try: "tracert server-name". Look and see if a hop is giving a high ping. Some will time out, das normal.

If you dont know the server name, try pinging random stuff like amazon, skynews etc

I had the same problem with COD4, then realized that if I quit the Steam application the ping goes back to normal. Do you have applications like that running in the background?
