GTX 470 aftermarket cooler and overclocking
My GTX 470 while playing games reaches temperatures of 95C at 95% fan speeds is that good?
Re: GTX 470 aftermarket cooler and overclocking
I would guess not. But wasn't this one of the downsides of these new fermi cards?

What case and fan setup do you have? A good ventilated case will help big time...

Re: GTX 470 aftermarket cooler and overclocking
Who cares. If it's not crashing your PC, don't worry about it. People are far too worried about temps. I used to be so silly about it and wanted my temps as low as I could possibly get them. Seriously, don't worry about it unless it's crashing your PC.
Obviously this will have an effect on your card's potential life time, but not to the extent that it'll actually affect you.
Put in another 120mm fan or two if you really want to, but honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.

That guy that used to mod cases. Now I take photos. True story.

Yeah, those cards have been hitting those temps in many reviews. Don't worry too much about it.

Re: GTX 470 aftermarket cooler and overclocking
are there any aftermarket coolers for it or not?
Re: GTX 470 aftermarket cooler and overclocking
I had a look around and so far there are none. People are doing there own kind of mods, to decrease their temps...maxtrouble wrote:are there any aftermarket coolers for it or not?

Re: GTX 470 aftermarket cooler and overclocking
Agree with what DAE has said, but that seems very high for that card. When my 480 was still on air cooling it would never get hotter than around 75 or 80 if the fan was running that fast (90% - 100%). Maybe check the thermal paste and heatsink?
Or else your PC's internal thermals are way off the charts, as has been suggested.

Re: GTX 470 aftermarket cooler and overclocking
Well, mine never goes over 75 with 50% fan speed and goes at about 65 on 60 percent fan speed on full load
