+1 And still has locked bootloaders. Still wont get Android updates except for the obligatory one because by then they will have a new device and tell you to get that for updates. HTC have always had brilliant build quality & hardware but have the worst update experience vs any other manufacturer.SykomantiS wrote:Still not a Nexus

No! That never occurred to me. Wow Anky - thank you so much I shall try that immediately.Anakha56 wrote:Tried pulling the battery out and leaving it out for awhile? Sadly that is not the problem. I thought it might be as my battery was very hot when the phone refused to come on the first time. But nope - doesn't work with hubby's battery either. In fact, I could almost swear it drained his battery when I tried it - but I must admit I had not checked the level before taking it out of his phone, so that could be a coincidence.

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
Any one know of a good Vanilla rom for the HTC One X? All roms I get are either full off HTC rubbish or loaded with 3rd party apps. The desire had the Oxygen Rom, which had nothing. And you could just add to it.
Oh the rom must be the newest Android version (JB)

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I recommend ViperX Rom, just use something like TI Backup to disable what you don't want.
If you want pure Android Experience, try the Cyanogen Mod Rom for the HOX

Well this hasn't been updated for a while. Though I'd post my current Galaxy S4 setup...
I'm liking the white/blue theme, goes very well with the phone being white.
ROM: Crash ROM v7
Kernel: Perseus v9 Alpha
Recovery: CWM 6.0.3.2
Font: Sony Sketch
Theme: Domination Light
Icons: Domination Light

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
My boss brought in a Prestigio Multipad 7 Prime for me to check yesterday.
It used to be mine, but I sold it as I quickly lost interest and was not using it [bought with the Vincent Park voucher I got from ELCB as a bonus] to one of his friends. Among other things, the user wants to use it for Skype, but when the stock camera application is run, it returns the error message “ camera has stopped working”.
The boss wants me to return it to Musica during lunch break, but I think/hope that this is a software error, as the camera did start up when I had the tablet. I have already cleared the camera application’s cache, and reset the device to its factory settings as suggested online, to no avail. The boss tried installing another camera application, but that did not work either.
Have you heard of this problem before, and do you have any ideas as to how it might be fixed?
I might ask him if I can take it home, and use my internet connection to reset it again, and make sure that all updates are applied to see whether that will resolve the camera issue.

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
Well, if that fails, check to see if you can perhaps do the opposite- are there any updates to the camera software that you can uninstall- taking it back to a working state like when you had it..

Already looked for that, but thanks.

I like white, but I've since changed it, hehe. I'm very happy with battery life so far, it's better than my iPhone 5 on this setup.
Just received my Spigen SGP neo hybrid cover, what an awesome case, love it.

How difficult is it to 'upgrade' from Froyo (2.2.2) to another flavour of Android?
Got a Ideos S7 Slim that I want to use for work pusposes and the app/widget I want to use, needs 2.3 or up.

That will depend on if there are custom roms out there to support your device, I doubt that the manufacturer will have an updated rom- though I'm guessing and would rather be proven wrong if it will help youdoo_much wrote:How difficult is it to 'upgrade' from Froyo (2.2.2) to another flavour of Android?

Nope, the manufacturer, Huawei, definitely don't have an update.
Will do the oracle thing for a custom rom.

Re: The Official Android Thread, V2.0
I wonder if we should start a new thread at V4.4 ...
Anyway. Stu remember Samsungs dismal attempt at having a functional phone book? Remember how it drove you insane with multiple contact issues? Well, I think I have a new issue with it to drive you up the wall .
I decided to go through all 145 contacts and A: Delete the profile picture because I am going to resync them with FB & G+ and B: Link up duplicates that I missed. The first thing I noticed was that for some stupid reason my contacts had links with people that have no idea they exist. For example, my life insurance guy is called Tim but for some unfathomable reason he had been linked to Ryan on this forum. So I went through all those contacts and removed all the links that were incorrect and now everything looks much better plus while doing this it started linking the correct people this time all by itself, I know this because I went through my contact list all over again...<_<
This may be the one reason why I will be ditching Samsung and either going Sony or HTC for my new device. That and the fact that I am tired with Samsung and want to try something new...

First find out that their contacts program is better. Oh and Samsung have had that problem since I got my S2 oh so long ago. Not experiencing that anymore though. So perhaps these problems are from your old phone
