Overclock Fail problem

Post by KaosHunter »

Hi i recently overclocked my new i7 930 from 2.80 to 3.50 Ghz (turbo Boost on) and it is running very well.

i used prime95 to stress test for two hours and no problems came up but now the other day when i had started up my computer (after starting it up many times after overclock) The system went black and said 'OverClock settings Failed, Please return to Bios and revert to default settings'. I then shut it down and restarted where it started up just as normal.

Should this be a something to worry about or not much as i am stall new to overclocking.

Thanx :)

How many times did jou get the fail message. Was there a power failure. I remember once when I oc'd my E2180 by 500mhz it worked fine. Last week we had a power failure when the power got restored I got the same message. when I went into the bios the cpu was clocked at 3.2ghz and memory @1000mhz it was weird that the pc posted normaly at sutch high clocks my screen gets no signal and I am forced te reset my bios settings.

I got the same error last night after I unplugged my PC to do some work on it. You have the same board as me as well. I wouldn't worry about it...

I personally do not use Turbo Boost when i OC the i7/i5 processors but that is up to you.

If its only appeared once then i wouldn't worry.
What I type has nothing to do with the people that employ me.
