Web server 2003, not allowing external ip's to open files

Post by ElDiablo »

Hi,

I've got a "sort-of" difficult question, and I really hope somebody would be able to help.

I'm hosting a web page from a Windows 2003 server, it worked in the past, but now it doesn't allow a person to open files from any external IP, I've checked the firewall and routing settings, everything seems fine.

I'm able to browse the folder from an external ip, but cannot open any of the files :-/

It's hard to explain, so let me show you what I mean:

http://196.211.156.204:8181/PowerWatchTV/EC/External/

Here you'll see a list of files, but none of those files open, but from an internal IP it does...

Does anybody know what could cause this?

Do you have anonymous access setup for this site properly?

By that I mean have you enable anonymous access and checked the Integrated Windows authentication box in IIS website properties?
If so have you gone to the sites home directory via explorer and made sure and all users have got more than just List Folder Contents rights in Windows security?
They should have Read & Execute as well....

Thanks for your reply, the IWA box wasn't ticked, it's ticked now, Enable anonymous access is also ticked with username IUSR_SERVER (Internet guest account) selected as user, is there a default password that I should put in the password box? It's empty :-/

That password will usually be added by default when you apply the changes.
If not you can specify your own account there.
