Digital 'Trail Cameras'

Post by doo_much »

Have to admit I'm clueless when it comes to 'the wild' so advice will be appreciated.

I need to supply Trail Cameras such as these from Bushnell.

Has anyone ever used anything like this, what other brands are available, where do I get them from and any advice on 'best practices' in their use?

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

elo Oom! Thanks for the PM, sorry I didn't see this thread!

We used these for tracking the local Leopard population in the Lions River area. However I resigned from the team pretty early to focus more time on my business. I would have to speak to them with any questions you have.

I can say that ours was donated by other Leopard projects around South Africa and that setting them up depends what you want to catch on film.

I will speak to them for you

Dankie neef!

Any help will be appreciated. I've since found a distributor for a number of brands in Pretoria.
Problem is I have no means of ascertaining whether his is sales talk or sound advice.

I don't know that much about them. I know they have motion sensors so they have to be placed at the level of movement. I believe they are protcted for certain weather conditions but you will have to check on that. I have only seen ones that are work with a flash at night but that scares the game away one would guess.

If you need them for night shots - I have heard of infra-red ones. More expensive though.
