Most important, what are you willing to pay? I know some people, but it gets really expensive.

Ett, in all seriousness, do you want to lay out a significant amount of money for this? I read your requirements on MyBB, and the guys there are right. Anyone with a bit of Joomla/Drupal/Wordpress knowledge can do what you want. Don't you want to go that way first? If you want, I'll put together something on my test domain for you to look at using Joomla. You'll just have to give me a bit of time since my ADSL at home is down. :x

Hey dude :)

There's a bit of functionality that I haven't mentioned, which is why I haven't bothered doing this with Wordpress. I need a significant amount of social integration - fb, twitter, buzz, etc. I also want something like the "share" bar on the side of mashable.com.

If this stuff can be done in wordpress, I'm happy to use it, I just don't want my site to look like a blog, know what I mean?

Dude, I'm on my ADSL here at home now, and I'm about ready to kill myself :P

But you see, that stuff can be done in a CMS like Joomla. I realise you're on a throttled Afrihost account, but try, for example, to go to http://www.shape5.com/demo/index.php and click on the newest template to demo. You can see see a button at the top called "Be social with us," and that gives you what you want.

Edit: Actually, see the screenshot below:

So the functionality is built in. I'm pretty sure you can get the same functionality on Wordpress as well, though you may have to pay for a premium template so that it doesn't just look like a blog.

Wordpress premium themes with similar functionality:

http://www.solostream.com/demo/wp-prolific.html
http://www.solostream.com/demo/wp-sublime.html
http://wp-ellie.solostreamsites.com/

Check out http://www.premiumwp.com for more.

All I'm saying is why pay a developer a lot of money when you can manage it yourself with a CMS with which you are familiar?

Hmmmm, those look pretty good. Not exactly what I want, but good.

See, Stuart, the "paying of the developer" is not something I need to be worried about. My site generates quite a bit of traffic, and will generate even more over the next few months, and that's a LOT of advertising. Because of this, I didn't pay my last developer (Advanced Creation Media), but they had a banner on the site which was advertising for them. The same applies to my hosting provider, and really everything related to my modding. I don't pay for a single thing that's related to "DAE_JA_VOO".

I'm in talks with a couple of development companies now that claim to be able to build exactly what I want and are keen to do it, but like you say, why not go with something I'm familiar with?

I'm going to check out these premium themes :)

Ah, without needing to post a topic my question got answered. I'm trying to jazz up our companies website by putting together something in Joomla, but I've had no experience with it before so I'm learning as I'm doing (network admin and general IT are my secondary function within the company) so I've wanted a decent template to work off and the shape5 site is excellent, thanks Stu
