Help me set up a SQL server
Hi,
We are interested in setting up an intraweb for our company. I would like to know if anyone knows of a good step by step tutorial/process/guide that will allow me to set up a mySQL server on the server that will be hosting the intraweb. The server is currently running Apache for hosting the intraweb.

Re: Help me set up a SQL server
Apache is currently running on Windows XP.
That is what's hosting the site locally.
Remember that thing you helped us out with yesterday rusty? Regarding DNS and stuff? This is now just to allow me to use mySQL on the intraweb...

Windows Setup at dev.mysql
don't forget to grab workbench while you're at it...
<edit>seriously contemplate getting it off of XP if you're expecting more than 15 users.... XP sucks at this...

Re: Help me set up a SQL server
err.. guess ...
a lamp setup will cost you.... nothing... except some time and effort getting to grips with CLI, (unless you're comfortable with tools like webmin) - you will also need to do some fiddling with kerebos/samba with respect to your AD...
a 2003 setup will cost you... and keep costing you... for half the performance...

Ok cool.
I'll run this past kenny. I don't think he'll be pleased.

PHP MyAdmin ?rustypup wrote: except some time and effort getting to grips with CLI, (unless you're comfortable with tools like webmin)
.
If you chose to go linux just use ubuntu desktop or server and install Apache after that mySQL then PHP and then PHPMyadmin via its Synaptic manger or Apt Get.
Ive done it plenty times and never had issues.

DR hasn't been heard from in a while... so we suspect something along the lines of:
