Lots of new stuff in c-store. I currently play cata but try to login at least once a week. I mostly do RP now. When the episode reruns come out with the new rewards I will spend more time in game again.

I need to get the game files again. My game seems to have been corrupted which is rather frustrating.

Anybody in JHB/PTA or surrounding areas who doesn't mind me popping in for a few minutes to come copy your files?

Season 3 was another big download. For some reason it kept crashing while downloading but I am up to date now. I am in Kempton Park if you want to copy the files.

Started with episode reruns last night. Rewards is the same with an extra BO here or weapon there. You can also do the weekly episodes again and get extra weapons. Crafting is also much better and actually gives you something usefull.

Last night when I tried to log in I couldn't. After about 25 minutes the launcher opened with a message that due to the high volume of players some web services are not available and you might have issues logging in. Is everyone coming back for the 1 year party? Seems like STO is still going strong.

Was a frustrating week with dc's and extreme lag. By Thursday I was able to login and play without problems. The new featured episode is one of the best in the game at the moment. you actually have to stop and think. I tried one of the UGC episodes too and it was also good. All in all the game according to me is much better than when it released. I left the fleet and joined another. Some episodes are easier when in a group.

Star Trek Online going free to play

The Chinese publisher bought Cryptic in May, acquiring the rights to Star Trek Online, Champions Online and the forthcoming Neverwinter from Atari in the process. Champions has already switched to F2P, and STO is now due to follow suit before the end of the year.

"I think free-to-play model [has] a bigger potential in US market and also in China market," reasoned Perfect World chief financial officer Kelvin Lau during an earnings call last week.

Perfect World saw rises in both revenue and profit in its second quarter financials. Total revenue was RMB779.6 million ($120.6m); up from RMB718.5 million in Q1, and RMB 592.5 million ($92.6m) from the same quarter last year.

Net profit also showed significant year-on-year gains, increasing from RMB196.6 million ($30.7m) in Q2 2010 to RMB316.6 million ($49.0m) this year.

The publisher's efforts primarily stem from the Far Eastern market, but the Cryptic acquisition marks a concerted effort to crack the West. "It will help us grow in the US and the Europe," said Perfect World chairman Michael Chi, "and further strengthen our R&D and operations around the world."

Yes the f2p news is big. There is alot of anger about it but the majority is all for it. Im a lifer so I dont care either way. The difference between Gold(Lifer & Sub) and silver (f2p) is almost non existent. As a free player you have access to all game content. For the past 2 months there are a steady increase in players. I welcome all f2p to give it a try.

Currently playing the f2p beta. It is basically the same with here and there a few tweaks. I am a Lt Com 4 now and have yet to encounter a bug. I am doing everything except pvp. The delithium system also works great.

F2P launch date announced. It is 2012-01-17. Still gives me time to get my tribble toon to Captain 1 so that I can claim the 80 000 refined delithium reward. Also one of the vet rewards is an android boff.

New patch on Friday broke the launcher autoupdate again. I had to reinstall and download all the patches again. For some reason STO is ignoring all my back-ups.

F2p build are live on holodeck from 2011-12-01. F2p launch still in january so if you play now you still need to sub for a month. You dont need to buy a copy as the launcher can now be downloaded from the STO site. Only need to pay for key. After January 17 whole game is free. I have played the weekend and its very stable. I have started a klink and is now playing through the little klingon content.
