Enable God Mode in Windows 7

Post by ryanrich »

Want a quick, one-stop folder for dozens of tweaks in Windows 7? Try turning on God Mode.

This trick actually duplicates the Windows Control Panel, but it puts the 270 most useful commands from its various modules front-and-center.

Here's how to set it up:

• Create a new folder on the Windows desktop (Right-click > New > Folder).

• Rename the folder: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

If you've done it right, the folder icon will change to that of the Control Panel.

Double-click on it to see dozens of tweak categories, each with commands for changing many aspects of Windows 7's behavior. It initially appears in the Details view - I recommend changing it to Tiles view.

You can find the entire list of options at Windows 7 Themes.

Reportedly, this trick also works with Windows Vista, though I have not tried it. I've seen some references to crashes in the 64-bit version of Vista, so proceed with caution if that's your OS.

Ed Bott isn't that impressed, hehe. :lol:

That "God mode" Explorer trick does less than you think

Makes sense... I still find it pretty cool, and like the features structured like that...

Thanks for that Jamin. You Putz. :-(

As for the godmode folder... it's just a list of all the control panel contents... so no special abilities you don't already have.
