Cooling between Air and Water?

Post by Mykhal »

Hi

I do not necessarily want to go to watercooling, mainly due to the cost and availability of the necessary parts in Sunny SA.

But I do need extra cooling - with an ambient temperature of about 35 C my fans are struggling! Is there something to cool the air that passes into my case? (Price is a factor!)

My Geforce 7300 was running at 85+ degrees (it was passive coolled)!
My Celeron 430 was running at 40 degrees.

Now I modded a fan onto my GPU - its temperature came down to about 65, but my CPU is now florting with 50 degrees :x

This makes me think that the surrounding air is to hot? (Maybe I need a aircon for myself?)

I do have one of those generic tower cases with two 80cm fans pulling air into the case, and one drawing air out of the case. What I am aiming to do, is to "cool" the air being blown into the case.

I am currently planning on upgrading and will probably get a HAF 922 case (That is why I ask the cooling question now, to factor in, in my planning)

Depending on the amount of money I have available, I will get a Core 2 Duo 7500, HD5750 and a Seagate 1T HD (That is just upgrading the critical components of my current system!)

I would like to go all the way to an i7 860, HD5870, new MB, new case etc.

Having owned a 922 I'd recommend it above all in that price range..... The airflow is just simply amazing. especially if you add a third and final 200mm (R150 max) to the side panel on the 922. Its deadly quiet with the 3x 200mm and 120 mm exhaust. You will see a MASSIVE decrease in temps all round.

I sold my 922 to move to the larger 932, only thing I miss is the air filters of the 922.

As for upgrading thats quite a nice little budget and you will see a definite increase in performance. :)

PM if you want any further advice :) Ive owned plenty of hardware (and before stuart (or anyone else that knows me) comments), yes im a hardware *****) :P
