Issue 154 (Jan2010) coverdisc MMO

Post by GridBurn »

I really appreciate that there is another free MMO on the cover disc. However I don't see the point when it installs only 1GB of the game files and the proceeds to try and download a further 3GB off the net.
Am I missing something?

Sorry, in case it isn't obvious I'm talking about the Runes of Magic MMO.

All MMO's are like this. Its not like the game files can simply update themselves while the DVD is in the post. So in the 2 Months between authoring and sales, the game gets updated and you end up having to patch it.

I know what you mean, but this isn't a patch. As far as I can tell the game consists of a total of a 4GB installer, split into 4 parts. The DVD only has the first part so the launcher goes online to find the rest.
I could understand a patch, I spent quite a while getting RoseZA from the last issue up to date.
This is not the same thing.
Either way I cannot find the missing content on the disc, so I guess the whole thing is a waste of time. There is no way I can download the remaining 3GB on my 128K leased line in any respectable time frame.
