Re: Steam Specials!
LA Noire for $25. The bad news however is extra DRM. Clearly steam isn't complex enough. Must complicate things even more.

Re: Steam Specials!
I have lost my entire STEAM games library....
Windows went belly up, so I had to reinstall from scratch. I installed STEAM, logged into my account, and....my games library was empty. There is not even an option to download what I have already bought.
I guess I should have backed up my games.
I did contact STEAM Support about this on the 1st....still no repsonse though. I suppose they have a great many queries to work through.

Re: Steam Specials!
I think I might know whats wrong. On your games library select all games, not installed games. I assume your steam games are on a separate harddrive? Select the games you know you had installed and hit the install button. Should take 20-30seconds to verify that the game is installed then it will change into a play button.

Re: Steam Specials!
Do you think that would help? It was a clean install.

Re: Steam Specials!
i'd trash that and the custom category cache
the .blob file is prone to corruption as is the category register..
my steam catalogue has never actually vanished, (between 5 distinct machines), but it has proven to display some silliness as a result of said corruption...
i'm leaning toward a flubbed install or dual account per StarBound's guess... deleting the .blob file will require you login again but will force steam to reload your catalogue.
Code: Select all
<steam root>\userdata\<userID>\7\remote\sharedconfig.vdf

Re: Steam Specials!
Civ 5 to me is classed under the same game type as Sims. It is a game you play and play and play until it crashes or you wonder why the rooster is crowing midday only to realise it is the morning after.
Civ 5 is good as a time waster game. But after completing a "small" map (took me 2 days, friday morning and went to sleep at 2am, then 8am till 7pm the saterday) I felt like I had been sucked into a trap and uninstalled the game.
For the $7.50 price tag it is well worth it. Even if you only defeat one map you will be filled a sense of completion.
The timeline moves fast at first but from the 1800s the turn time will decline fast and you will get turns that advances 1 year per turn.
So yeah, great fun, worth the price, very enjoyable, but when your done you wont want to go back simply because of the time it takes to do these things.

Re: Steam Specials!
$7 is more than worth it for Civ 5
I just spent almost 5 times that much on DLC's for it a few weeks ago
Don't class it with Sims unless you want me to class you with Julius Malema

Re: Steam Specials!
Have heard of EVE, but not tried it. I think it is the monthly subscription model that is putting me off. I prefer the Guild Wars way.
