Only1 it's half adventure half /3d shooter I went with a very dark underground gothic type game with lots and lots of rich dark textures
I tried to be very vague in the begining of the game to make it very weird as possible.

Sher I'm using a CAD program called bryce I mostly use it for animation and cutscenes and to build some textures. But I use a whole lot more softwarepakages all in all about 20 .... If you want I can explain in full detail what each pack does...and in less than 1000000000000000 words *wipes sweat* glad thats done...

Has anyone used blender for making 3d models? It's pretty nice but I find the skinning to be quite difficult.

Yip but still there is nothing that compares to MAX. If you know what you do in max you can do anything from making a truly realistic face to comic strip animations.

okay lets put it this way I'm using Bryce combined with game studio a6 engine .... greenworks xfrog with 3dstudio max 3d milkshape exporting and importing like you've never seen before.....!!

Bryce is not just a landscaping program you can do pretty much any with with it building a game without it would have been very very hard since the graphics is just so beautiful....!!

Yeah but 3D studio max costs quite a bit as I understand it, do you know more or less how much? A couple thousand bucks isn't it? *sigh* I'll have to wait for Christmas and be a good little boy to get it. :P

OK...

I want to start my own game studio or something. But i have a idea for a multiplayer FPS. But also other games, like, you know the arcade game Metal slug?? A game like that and others. I checked out a engine called the: ca3d engine. It has brilliant graphics :!:

Any help would be apreciated!

Nice Engine I must say especially the part in the cave that has a lot of bump mapping on the cave walls.

Kinda reminds me of HL, but then again ... I saw some of HL's graphics.

I wanna know, does the shadows (of the world environment) remain static or can it move like in UT2004, DoomIII?

Yeah (Last-Attacker)

I downloaded the demo. The shadows move alot! You can even see the
shadow of the player model breathing against the wall! The guns also change color according to the light! Good light and shadow engine. The particle engine needs some work!
The engine managed 20fps on my cousins PC. He has a Intel 64mb onboard! :!:

Anybody with a list out there... (3d engines)

Well its very far from completion! I still have to do map-loading, models, special features, etc. Very long process indeed!
I only work on it in my spare time so don't be surprised if its not done at the end of the year!

RuadRauFlessa wrote:Newsflash your most precious Half-Life was completely developed using VB.

Yes it is an awful language but it also has it's advantages
Sorry for taking this one from the beginning of the post but I had to respond to this one.

Half-Life could never be written in VB! Why? Because no VB game can run that fast! Second, VB uses a lot of memory loading in the code as "strings". Thirdly HL is written in C++ (HAVE PROOF), I have a program at home that checks out the language at which that program was compiled with. Guess what, it gave back "Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0".

Anyway, the HL SDK is C++ code, so your source that told you that HL is VB 6.0 code was probably messing with you.

Anyway, I havn't read on so forgive me if you already have explained your "theory". :)

Oh Yes. I Have completely forgotten about that.
at the time I meant to remind raud that the Half-Life engine was developed from The Quake 2 Engine (which is C and Assembly). So Yes, the HL engine is C/C++
