Re: Far Cry 3
Yeah, the only thing I had against it was how it encapsulated everything I hate about sandbox games. The setting and storyline had so much potential and there where one or two unique moments, but sadly you had to spend several hours driving down the same roads, through the same instant-respawning-guard-posts, and finishing the same bland-semi-procedural missions just to get their.justinufo wrote:Hope they fix everything that was wrong with FC2.not that it was bad but still lacked that something.

Re: Far Cry 3
Far Cry 2 was good, but it got old quickly so I didn't even land up finishing it. There's only so many of the same guard-posts I can annihilate before it gets tired. The missions were fun though.

Re: Far Cry 3
It had it's good moments.Sneaking into a camp at night throwing a molotov into a camp forcing enemies out and picking em off one by one.I wonder how many people are still even playing FC2?Guess it's just a memory now....hopefully this time Ubi will look at what people moaned about. . .
Re: Far Cry 3
What do you mean "sneaking into camp"?
Even in pitch black darkness, with the full camo dress, crouching, staying in shadows, I get spotted around corners. So much for that silent knife kill. THEN... should you by the grace of the game-engine not be spotted and manage to approach a guard from the rear and make the supposedly "silent" kill with a knife, be assured that the rest of the camp will be onto you like jamin's attention on camel toe's.
Then, the re-spawning issue was fun in the beginning, but hugely annoying later on ... why not let a square'd off region remain cleared out while you are still there, leave the quadrant and it it may re-spawn. Crossing a boulder just behind a guard point and coming back to find all the guards back, including vehicles (when your rpg is now out of ammo) is [expletive].
The one nice thing about the game is the awesome sniper possibilities and getting the hang of the mortar. Also loved the IED's.

Re: Far Cry 3
And I hated the enemies with unlimited mortar ammo... (maybe that was a consequence of hard mode?) ...if you hear that incoming whistle or see the range-finding yellow smoke you know you were in for an interesting time. Trying to spot the foegger in the bushy terrain lobbing mortars at you was near impossible. Hiding from the mortars behind buildings was impossible... that guy had omnipresent vision.

Re: Far Cry 3
This time around though they should put some proper wildlife in though that'd be more awsome. .Lions, crocodiles, snakes etc.Would add alot more to the game. Also a system thats similar to MGS snake eater like damage of limbs, poison.etc
Re: Far Cry 3
I just hope they keep the dudes who swear at you in Afrikaans And maybe include some flying parts to travel quicker from point A to B.

Yeah, the stealth was weird. Seem to remember that the dart rifle and silenced pistol where the best for stealth kills. Sneak in, headshot someone while no-one else was looking or too close, and it was chilled. Miss though, and every NPC in a mile radius will try and drive a Jeep into your face.
The multiplayer was great though. It's just so rewarding to watch someone loose it after being IED'd 4 times in a row.

Re: Far Cry 3
what do you think...
honestly, FC2 was a fizzle in comparison to the original... if they could continue the FC story, maybe i would be tempted... if they continue in the same vein, (ie, console+sandbox friendly), i'll probably pick it up from the bargain bin, play it half way through and then file it next to FC2...

So what, Jack Carver's African safari? Complete with African mutants because we all love a good race riot?

Re: Far Cry 3
What we need is a Jurassic Park title using the crytek engine. Just need a proper story wrapped around it. And need some linear path to take. I cant stand guessing where to go next.
