Free downloads to make your Windows 7 PC more usefulTechRadar wrote:Putting aside the ridiculous price for Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, Microsoft has got a soft side and these freebies prove it.
If you are a student, you can download more amazing software such as Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate for free, provided that you are able to verify your status on the site.
The following list contains some of the best free applications that have been developed partially or completely by Microsoft, making your Windows 7 computer a lot more useful.

24 best free Windows apps from Microsoft
I find many of these extremely useful, so thought I'd share.

so, they've relented and offered us plebs a whole swathe of tools mostly included as standard in other OS brands, or which have been free for 10+ years.... and this is a good thing? of that list, XP mode is the only +...

Sorry, but I have to agree with rustypup.
The fact that it has taken them this long to supply an app to natively create and use an ISO is unbelievable.
Also, I'll give Paint.net a thumbs up, but it's not developed Microsoft, so it should not be on that list

Yes I also agree that it should have been implemented ages ago, but it doesn't change the fact that the apps are now here and I'm sharing the info...jamin_za wrote:Sorry, but I have to agree with rustypup.

I find Synctoy in particular pretty useful when syncing files and folders between my Netbook and Laptop...

Oh, I see I see, hehe.
Re: 24 best free Windows apps from Microsoft
some of those tools are limited to the hardware
for example virtual PC/windows mode will only work with certain processors
haven't gone through the whole list but i have a feeling that there will be more limitations like that

I'm willing to bet that Monty had that exact page open as he typed his response. His response therefore meant to things: 1) the information you wanted was easy to find, and 2) you would have learned more by searching for it yourself than having him spoonfeed it to you.3ddy wrote:-1 for you Monty
