wireless signal from next door

hey guys,

i happen to live next door to my parents - it has its perks and drawbacks.

one of the perks is that i can leach from my old man's ADSL connection at home via a wireless network i set up. he has the siemens gigaset modem supplied by telkom, which broadcasts the wireless signal.

but there is about 50-60 metres between our houses, and the obvious number of walls in the way too.

my signal quality is alright, usually above 95%, but the signal strength of the connection is way low - usually lower than 20%. what are my options for boosting the signal strength, short of running a cable between the two houses?

Running a cable is probably the best method.

You could give this a try, it might just work as it did for me in the old house with my new house I am going to be cabling now I just need to find a place that sells cheap network cables. I need 2 +- 25 meter cables...

i found a couple places that sell by the meter - prices seem to be about R5/m.

and those sites dont display here at work, im guessing its blocked somehow - i will pick them up at home to see what they're about.
