Telkom the speed of SLOW
So telkom is wildly advertising the new family sized internet and I am thinking to myself "24mb lines... from Telscum?" and then I just turn my head the other way. I cant take anything coming from them serious. Note they havent set a size for the "new" lines and my and there definition might be a bit difference eg 24 family member on an 1mb vs my 4 family members on a 24mb line.
Anyway most of us are on 512kb if not 1mb. But the difference between us and people living in the UK is bigger than you can imagine. To fully experience the horror of our slow networks you need to sit down and chat with someone on the other side while your downloading the same program. And thats what we did.
Monday night me and one of my WoW buddy who is in the UK decided to download torchlight. Download started on both sides. After 5 minutes the UK guy was complaining about it taking so long to download. I was at 2% and he was sitting at 50%. AFTER 5MINUTES! and HE was complaining. So after 10min I was sitting with 10% of the game and he was creating his first character. That was on an 8mb line because he couldnt afford the 24mb line.
Ok 2 hours later I was at 80%. He finished the demo and decided to buy the full game. So what does he do? He deletes the demo files and redownloads everything. At 84% he was happily gaming again while I was stuck looking at a sub hundred figure.
So now you can imagine how that made me feel. If not then try this. Open your music folder, pick a song at random, play it. Congratulations! You've just experience a full lenght 2h30m movie in the time of that mp3 play time. Thats the difference.

Well I have been oversees and used their internet twice but unless your sitting here and having someone over there do the same thing as you you really dont get the true sence of how slow it is. Also CAPS only makes telkom look bigger than they are. Kinda like the noobs in World of Warcraft that spam the trade channel

HMan srsly... who is this new gurl in the sig? /drool
Also agree with the Telkom lol-advertising.
Was in the movies (Inglorious B@sterds - movie was sold out) where they have this "telkom-next-generation-network" advert.
Just as it finished some guy in the back shouted (in that millisecond silence before the next ad) "Go talk k.a.k outside!" ... the whole movie house erupted in a massive lol. It was something to behold.
