iis installation. please help

hi ppl. can some1 please help me with installing iis 5.1 on my machine. im trying to install it again but its not showing in the Administrative Tools place. but the Inetpub folder in C:\ is there..... i downloaded and installed Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager for Windows XP its created the iis shortcut in the Administrative Tools place, but when i try connect i get a message saying "this computer is not running iis 4 or higher"

i keep reinstalling iis from the xp cd but nothing helps....
please can some1 help me.

oh btw ive got .net 3.0 and 2.0 installed on my machine. running xp pro sp2

Go to Add/Remove Programs Add/Remove Windows Components and then check Internet Information Services (IIS) and then go next. It will ask you to point it to the install files. They are in the 'i386' folder of your XP install CD.

hey thanks mate but unfortunately it doesnt let me point to the instalation files after i hit next. it just goes straight to installation mode and flies thru it in like 5secs and says installations complete.

but i just installed it en it installed properly.


i think its coz i done the installation bit without selecting anything.

then it deleted the iis bit there was then i checked iis and it installed hit next to install again and it installed properly .
