Win 7 & XP intrnet sharing

Post by Mclaren »

Hi, Please help.

I have a mtn e230 modem connected to my win 7 pc. i have an XP machine that needs to share this modem.

the modem is set to enable others to access the net using the modem, but the xp machine still will not connect.

Both machines can see each other on the network. All sharing options are enabled in win7's advanced sharing section (both public and Home)

Few questions, have you run the network setup wizard on xp (and 7)? Is it possible to use the modem on the xp machine and have it share the connection to the win7 machine, and if so, does it help? And are the pc's on the same workgroup? (And does the workgroup impact ic sharing?)

Hi, both machines are on the same workgroup. i cannot get it right to share if i plug the machine into the xp machine, however, if i plug my note book in with XP along side the other xp machine all works well.

i have run the network wizard on XP. I have not used a wizard on the win 7 machine as most of it is done automatically.
