ASP - When does it officially come to an end?

Post by SilverBack »

Hiya all,

So I know with new technologies that older ones expire eventually. I develop mostly in classic ASP as for clients etc...its more cost effective. So anyone know when ASP will officially be stopped by MS...as in they wont run on web servers anymore? Im sure there must be some date of sorts, but cant find any info on the net?

Cheers
SB

Ok...see what you saying...you will still get apps written in Cobol etc. Was asked to find out cos Sun is discontinuing Sun ASP. Because of this...some website hosting companies (a lot of them) are stopping services for Sun ASP. So now I need to convert 2 websites to PHP. Not a problem...but they now looking to save bucks on the ASP - PHP conversion from me...so instead are wanting to go to a Microsoft Solution...and run the ASP website off a Windows box....that way they dont have to convert to ASP. BUT...it costs a lot more to host off a Windows box...so in the long run...they not gonna benefit anyways.

So ja...now I had to try find out if it will ever be discontinued at some point. Oh the drama...

No development language ever truly dies. It just rots into a pile of mush when people stop using it. So the short of it is actually that no one will know.
