Mac in the Format?
Mac in the Format?
Just an update on the Mac situation for the three people following the conversation here: The poll we ran a little while ago was indeed spammed (for a change) and after chatting to some of the more vehement anti-Mac e-mailers I want to proceed as follows:
We have in our offices a Mac pro, Quad Xeon, monster workstation sent for review. I was thinking of popping in another HDD with Win 7 and benching it against our test rig. I would also like to bench as many processes as possible that have equivalents on both operating systems and put together a well rounded look at who should and should not be using a Mac/PC.
Is this win?

What you see written above is my opinion and not that of the peeps that put food on my plate.
Re: Mac in the Format?
I cannot for the life of me see any reason why Mac articles should not be published in PCFormat.
Re: Mac in the Format?
Sounds like win to me.
So...someone actually spammed your Mac page? Disgraceful.

Re: Mac in the Format?
Please include Mac info. Some of us have to make decisions on hardware for our offices, and find such information informative. Just like the Anime page that you are planning...
"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.
Re: Mac in the Format?
Anime creates an interest in Manga - which is a draw card, just like graphic novels, for reluctant readers, and a good marketing tool to get young adults into libraries. Mind, you will be amazed at the amount of adults that are interested in and read/watch it. Just like the Marvel movies/comics, and games.UrBaN wrote: Anime is informative for governmental institutions? Sweet.

I like the idea, there's NOTHING wrong with being informed, and why not broach the Mac subject seeing as we've also started dabbling in Linux?

Agreed. I like the fact that the mag is evolving.

jee, Sorry I forgot you work in the Library area, was thinking more Home Affairs, couldn't fathom the need for Anime.
americantsm1, MAC and PC are not related - a specifically refers to IBM type computers - MACs are different.
Same concept though - electronic pr0n storage unit.

Re: Mac in the Format?
In my opinion a Mac article in general will take up space that could've been filled with PC goodness.
If I could afford a Mac or was vaguely interested in them, I'd buy MacFormat.
However.
"of popping in another HDD with Win 7 and benching it against our test rig. I would also like to bench as many processes as possible that have equivalents on both operating systems and put together a well rounded look at who should and should not be using a Mac/PC."
Comparison would be an epic win!

Re: Mac in the Format?
For what it's worth, I'd like to see any Mac-related stuff taking up space otherwise devoted to UK content, rather than removing local reviews, etc. But there may be licensing issues involved there.

Mac is whack.
But an article benching a Windows OS on Mac hardware would be interesting.

And please for heaven's sake don't use that single button thing. A mouse has more than one bloody button otherwise it is not a mouse but a mobile button.

Macs have Intel procs now so why not include them? As jamin said:

Benchmark / Comparison of PC vs Mac: YES PLEASE!
Mac content in PCF now or in the future: NO! Leave it for the Mac specific mags.
For some info on Windows 7 vs Mac OS X Snow Leopard: These articles are pretty old.
No benchmarking info here, just a feature comparison. Looking forward to benchmarks though.
