Agreed. I started Killzone 3 last night, and while I enjoyed Crysis 2, I'm enjoying KZ3 more so far because of some small things that are just done better...StarBound wrote:I disagree. I prefer the guy I play with to talk.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Who cares about a main character talking? It was the same in Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 and those are two of the better games ever made. Man, you people are picky!
The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Yeah and Gordon Freeman not talking also annoyed me, but it was a brilliant game because of everything that was right about it, and the character not talking is more of a personal preference thing I guess.
The AI and general gameplay is also lacking in Crysis 2 and the storyline is predictable and feels like it was just slapped together, but if that makes me picky so be it. Still enjoyed the game quite a bit.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
I should add that Unreal 2 was one of my more enjoyable experiences Adding that voice work to a character adds more involvement. Even going back to Heretic 2 and Sin you were those characters. The extra 1 liners also helped to move the story along. You didnt feel like the outsider and chop that follows orders blindly.
But maybe I am just seeing it in the light of I am playing the story of mr A and he is giving his thoughts on the situation.

Fair enough... but for me the game is good enough that the main character doesn't need to talk.

Also true. But imagine Gordon Freeman had some witty remarks during his adventure. Could have some tense moments between Gordon and the G-man.

Had to activate Crysis 2 AGAIN today. Looks like it might be when installing new GPU drivers.

I havent played crysis 2 for a while now. Try to:
1 - Log in, enter your code
2 - Log out
3 - Log in and enter code again.
I think that is the quick fix for the bug they would have fixed in the first patch. Not patch number 2 or patch number 3.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
I feel the single player could have been better. I feel the multiplayer is the best since CoD4. But gamespy is ruining the experience and in all honesty I feel like I am over and done with the game. It's sad that games these days dont have any replayability. There isnt anything I can really do differently if I play Crysis 2 over. The multiplayer has also reached it limits. No games does it right since CoD4. What isnt to understand that stable server + voting abilities + proper hit detection = win?
I guess I need to stop playing other games and just get back to playing World of Warcraft only.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Okay, just finished the game and I enjoyed it! Like it more than the first Crysis. Below follows my experience of the game.
What Crysis 2 got right:
The story - For me, the story was much more engaging that the first one, I felt more involved this time around.
The graphics - Let's be honest, this is probably at least half the reason anyone played this game! Although the lack of DX11 (for now) was a big surprise for me, I thought the graphics was really good. Some of the finer textures were lacking slightly, but for the most part, I was happy. I also got the feeling the game isn't as demanding on current hardware as Crysis 1 was.
The suit - What I enjoyed about the suit was that you could upgrade / change it to suit different situations / enemies. Another thing that was cool was the way the suit did certain things automatically - Speed mode and strength mode.
The music - Music goes a long way in creating atmosphere, probably more than any other element of a game and I thought Crysis 2 nailed that.
What Crysis 2 got wrong:
The difficulty - I went for the highest difficulty from the beginning and I thought I was going to struggle. I didn't. Apart from a few places where I got killed a lot, I didn't feel the enemies were as much of a challenge as they should have been. If the enemies could see you, you were in for a fight, but it was easy to pick them off one by one most of the time.
What really got me about the enemies was the marines and how they'd say "All clear!" after you just shot the guy 10 feet left of him in the head.
The linnear gameplay - Maybe I've gotten spoilt by games such as Dragon Age and Oblivion, but coming back to a game such as this after playing the aforementioned does make it feel slightly mechanical and a touch boring. Come to think of it, I don't mind my FPS games being linnear (I don't know why), so for me it's not a fault of the game, but rather a shortcoming of the genre overall.
The setup - While running Crysis 2 in Extreme mode at a full, constant 60 FPS is a joy to behold, I do like to know what settings the game is actually using. While Crysis had a plethora of graphic options you could change, Crysis 2 only gives you the pre-determined settings, which I find annoying. Had my PC not been strong enough to run the game at max, I would have liked being able to mix and match the settings.

Anyone doing some multiplayer? Low ping servers are hard to find it seems.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Just filter the server browser with ZA in it and you should see our 22 servers. I have to say sadly that the crysis 2 multiplayer died very fast for me although I felt it was one of the better multiplayer experiences I've had. The problem is server related. Why? Because I hate getting auto paired with foreigners, I hate that it runs on the gamespy network, I hate that I have a 50ms ping but feels like 500ms ect ect. Solid multiplayer, backed by slacked service.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
I do. What makes it worse is that it was fixed not 5 years ago and now we are in this broken cycle of things. But I guess thats how the times are changing.

I have a 72ms ping and I can play for about 2 mins. before the game seems to spaz out and the lag becomes a horrible mess.

I see there was another patch, v1.8, that gives you a bit more options for graphics, but still no DX11.

I dont play the game anymore. Even if they finally release dx11 the multiplayer aspect still has those server issues. ADDRESS THE PROBLEM!
