Question for PCF June

Post by Drakonis »

Greeting everyone. This month's question is:

What games have got you hooked?
"May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house."
My opinion, not the mag's

Fallout 3 is a really addictive game, the level design and character development are brilliant.

Nah only kept me busy for about 3 days then I got bored with it. Same with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Coming to thing about it the game that has me really hooked is actually Generals Zero Hour. Not talking about how brilliant the gfx is or how balanced everything is It is just one of those games that I can play if I get bored of everything else. Then suddenly I am not bored any more :D

RuadRauFlessa, Your opinion is irrelevant because of where you stay.

I have two games like that:

Starcraft and Homeworld

When all else fails, fire one of those up and pass a few hours :D

Yip those two also works although Homeworld is a tad tedious for me.

Oblivion still has me hooked. I am loving doing all the things I am not allowed to do in real life - like slaughtering a whole house full of strangers. Dead Space has me stumped and I still enjoy Dark Messiah, Warcraft III, Dawn of War (both). Always come back and replay KOTOR 1 and 2.

On the lighter side - Chuzzles and Peggle, Burnout Paradise and MotorStorm.

We are talking about addictions here not what you can play at the same time. KOTOR1 & 2 had me hooked for about a year then I got a life. Oblivion is cool and yes being able to go into a house and clean it out is cool but that alone does not get you hooked. In your case simple minded things might create hooks as you are good at fabricating hooks

Oblivion, CnC Tiberium sun and Firestorm, Kotor 1 and Kotor 2, Crysis, Hitman Bloodmoney, Age of empires 1 and expansion, Age of Empires 2 and expansion.

I have only completed 3 PC games: Kotor1, Kotor2 and Crysis, of all the games i've played, borrowed or bought over the years. Maybe its the freeform nature of those games :?

We weren't talking about my ability to multitask  I agree - I am more prone to addictions than some, but Oblivion is addictive. I have been playing for about 116 hours (I think) and am only level 23. No telling how high I can go. I need to finish every mission, every task, everything. I have to search every cavern, ruin and house. That place is huge and I see myself playing it for the next few years - at least  And as for me being simple minded

meh... recent releases are full of fizzle...

diablo2 + median mod, witcher EE and NWN/2 have kept me entertained for far longer than FC2, FO3, L4D, etc, etc...

now, thanks to Anakha56, i'm back on BG2

@Tribble: i must admit that playing oblivion, for me, is much like taking a vacation :D it still tends to surprise every so often. my pivotal oblivion moment was an encounter with a golem - potting it from afar with arrows seemed a sure-fire solution when one of them picked up a rock the size of a moderately sized building and tossed it at me... squish!... since then i've started appreciating the AI a little more

Yeah the oldies are the addictive ones. The new games are like in seriously lacking in that department. Hoping that Diablo III would correct that though.

The game that has got me hooked the most is still Crysis. By far. Maybe because my rig can't quite run it at maximum, so I know there is still more I can appreciate. :D
