When did the opinions of random strangers on the internet start to have value?

That was a pretty decent rickroll.

Well, to be quite honest, I don't think he is too far off the mark...

This site is very lenient with spam. I try to keep it out of the techie threads as much as possibel, but it still creeps in there often.
It is absolutely pervasive everywhere else.
I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing . Our members get on well for the most part and spam outside of the techie threads seldom creates hassles.

I could understand why someone who is not a part of this community would be derisive of it.

Having said all that. I would not change these forums for all the gold in Fort Knox... actually I would happily destroy these forums and every single one of you for all the gold in Fort Knox - but it's impolite to admit that.

TBH, every forum I've been on that strictly polices spam runs dry - people drift in, ask a question or two, but without the mindless drivel and inane games, people get bored real quick and move on.

Granted, I'm not a big member of this community, but it's a nice, friendly place and so it draws me back every now and again 'cause I know it will be a lively place with plenty of nice people.

Spam is social glue. I suppose it has to be since it's made from the same stuff regular glue is made from. :D

Mina,
Tried to make a funny again.

+1 on jamin's post

(did i really just say that?)

spam in the chillout...relax threads really doesn't bother me. it can get out of hand, but derailing the birthday or new members' threads for a while does no lasting harm.

the funny thing is, even though systemshock is so strict on spam, i've rarely found helpful advice there to any tech questions i've asked. maybe it's just me, but i've found this a far more beneficial source of tech help than ss. the major benefit of ss is the dealer's section.

I agree with Mr J. We may poke fun at one another, but I find that the spam thread is really just fun, and I for one actually care about people in it.

As for the techie side of things ... I do not like to strain myself when I don't have to so I stay away, but I often haev a look when some one sends me links and people always seem to be helpful and polite

The next person to necro an old thread will be banned for at least two weeks.
