Hi guys,
Been a while, I know. Been working on a redesign for my site.
linkage
Please let me know what you guys think.
I think it's still a bit rusty, but I'd appreciate your opinions.
Peace!

Re: brainstormdesigns vol 3.0
takes a while to load... the background works well, though...
sadly, i've just taken a flamethrower to the bottom left corner of the page.... twitter is for the socially bereft... it's taking facebook's silliness to new depths...
[twitter]
"I've just stabbed myself in the face with a hammer!"
"My head hurts"
"I'm ogling an inappropriately aged dolphin"
"My one toenail looks funny"
[/twitter]
<spends 5 minutes doing an impromptu armegeddon dance...>
that aside... looking good

You're uber 1337. My wide screen isn't liking the site though, the background image isn't scaling properly, maybe tile the image or something?
Your menu button doesn't seem to be very practical for purposes other than killing boredom...
But the site is hawt otherwise, the internet is full of ugliness!

It does not even repeat and everything is to the side, which I could still live with if the background tiled. The site is also extremely slow for what is on it.

Re: brainstormdesigns vol 3.0
Yeah, the slowness is an issue, even though I completely shrunk down every pic I could.
Not too sure how else to overcome it. (this is the part where you guys gimme some pointers)
I hadn't actually checked it on any large res screens. I'm gonna center everything and see how that turns out.
Glad (some of) you guys like it. I was just a bit tired of the horisontal version. Was also a nightmare to update. Hopefully this one's not gonna be too much of a hastle.
@rusty: I think twitter gives the user that feeling that the site's active. Or at least I am.
Thanks again guys!!

Re: brainstormdesigns vol 3.0
PC: is there any way you could convert the background to 16:10 aspect (1680x1050 or 1280x800) so It can be used as a wide-screen desktop background?

Re: brainstormdesigns vol 3.0
PaperCut, don't just centre everything. Create a table with three cols then add your bg and content into the middle col. Make the middle col a fixxed width and make the other two dynamic so that they fill the screen. Set the size of the table to 100%. Set a diffirent background in the main body to finish the look and feel off nicely. Then you have your content with your nice background (which will be much smaller and should already cause a speed up) framed by the global background. Also add an image preload JavaScript as it does wonders for speed of a site.

I like it so far.
Didn'tread the others posts...

When on http://brainstormdesigns.co.za/graphics.htm and clicking on say...Made Money, the thumbnail doesn't orientate itself so that I can see the top part. I have to scroll up AND keep the the mouse button pressed in. I'm using Opera 9.63.
2
I don't know if it's the font/the colour or background itself but it kinda hurts my eyes when reading text.
more to follow once IE6 loads the bg...

+1 on the back ground being a problem. and i really dislike the colour although the choice of tones you've used together go well.

I've copied and pasted this reply.RuadRauFlessa wrote:PaperCut, don't just centre everything. Create a table with three cols then add your bg and content into the middle col. I'm gonna disect it when I get home tonight and do it word-for-word.
I'ma post here again tomorrow after fiddling around with it.
I know dude, and it's only 186Kb small. The 'graphics' page also takes a while.po10cy wrote:not bad, background takes ages to load.
I'm actually worried about those two things. Strange. :'(

Re: brainstormdesigns vol 3.0
You can do the same with divs but do the table thing first. Much easier to get the layout right and it is rendered the same on 99.99999999999% of the browsers that matters.PaperCut wrote:I've copied and pasted this reply.RuadRauFlessa wrote:PaperCut, don't just centre everything. here's the part I don't get: You wanna use it as a wallpaper? If so, then I could send it to you at full res. Or whatever res you want.

I saw it at 1280x1024 but it doesn't scale well to my widescreen res of 1280x800 (it cuts part off)PaperCut wrote:It's already at 1280x1024Monty wrote:PC: is there any way you could convert the background to 16:10 aspect (1680x1050 or 1280x800) so It can be used as a wide-screen desktop background?
