Downgrade from xp SP3 to 2?

I have an Windows XP disk with service pack 3, and I want to downgrade it to sp2. I cant uninstall it since it was installed with 3.

Does any one know of a way to do this.

AFAIK Microsoft stopped printing XP installation disks before the release of SP3....

I'd suggest you just find an original XP installation disk with SP2 and reinstall.

Otherwise try this.

Not sure if this will work because you don't have any previous service packs installed but...
navigate to c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$ directory there should be an exe there
you can run.

This is a longshot though cause your xp is slipstreamed so you might have to get a another xp

Okay so this is a clients pc. But the client showed me the disk.. and it was xp pro sp 3 with the original printing... so maybe he got it from a guy with very good printer? lol

Would i be able to to a windows repair installation on sp3 with a sp2 disk?

There are XP Install disks with SP3 on, I have one too.

Why not simply backup the files, format and reinstall with SP2?

In our company format must be a last resort, after you've exhausted all other options lol.

Fair enough...though by now you would have been done and delivered the PC to the client already.

We have an issue here at the office where the machines took 14 mins to log on to our domain, add/remove SP3 in the CP fixed our issue but that was installed from a image dled from Microsoft
