PC Problem - No strartup

Post by AEther »

Hi Guys

The other day I was working on my pc, and then put it on sleep (Windows Vista sleep mode).
When I tried to 'unsleep' it again, nothing happened...

I restarted it and the mobo and everthing powers up (no beep sound however??), but the there is no feed to the monitor and the keyboard/mouse lights do not go on...

I tested the gfx card, ram, hdd, and found nothing wrong.

Could anyone give me an indication of what could be wrong please?

I have a Asus P5QL Pro motherboard.

Thanks a mil!

Is that a jumper setting?

Oh sorry it is not a ROG mobo. Can you get into the BIOS/CMOS?

What colour does the monitor light shine?

Try removing any expansion cards and unplugging everything except power and vga. If nothing displays I would try another power supply.

+1, if that doesn't fix it... try changing the CPU. If the result is still the same, then its the mobo. My best guess is mobo or PSU

If you haven't come right try and reset the bios from the motherboard by shortening the pins and check that your ram is good. Also take out your ram and see if the motherboard beep when you turn on with no ram. If it doesnt there is a problem with your mobo or cpu. Most mobos keeps beeping if there is no ram installed.

Remove and reseat the cmos battery to reset the bios. Sounds to me like ram or mobo, both those give this type of error

Is this strartup thing necessary? Do it help the machine start? ;)

unplug absolutely all power connections except those needed for the board, and remove the graphics card. My uncle had a problem where a dead fan was shorting the psu out and the pc would not boot.

try clearing the cmos (there should be a jumper either where you connect your lights and switches to the board or by the battery. also try unplugging the power supply and taking out the psu to mother board power connector out of the board and put it back in.
