Is my 8500GT running too hot after I overclocked?

Push it to the max but make sure that you keep it cool!

Is my 8500GT running too hot after I overclocked?

Post by Fireball »

Hey guys!

While I'm waiting for enough moola to trickle into my bank account (to buy a new Radeon 4850 8) ), I've decided to put all my chips on the table and squeeze every last drop of performance out of my 8500GT.

I've managed to raise the Core from 450MHz to 760MHz and the Memory from 300MHz to 410MHz.
First of all, is this good? How does it compare with some of you guys? (I managed to score an extra 300 3DMark '06 Points).

Second, it runs at 50 degrees Celsius Idle and 70 under load (I have a fan next to my PC). Is 70 an acceptable temperature?
Also, If I get even better cooling, will I be able to push my 8500GT even further than the 760 MHz mark?

Thanks a lot for your input fellas!

No I would start getting worried at 80-90. 70 is practically cool in comparison of todays cards.
Soon Google will know everything...including how to divide by zero :(

Dude your core is way too high or its being reported incorrectly. The temps are fine but you should be artifacting. I would drop 760 down to 500 and leave it at that. i suspect that the 700 clock was on your mem and the other 410 your core ..

i agree
i found memory is can be pushed up more than the core
eg
my 7600 standard core 400 mem 266
oc core 459 mem 425
edit and i am running at 40 idle and 60 load
