Gif animation

Post by Prime »

Ok, so i want to make some custom emotes, Preferably animated.

Are there any good free Gif animation programs, programs that do frame by frame animation? i did a search on google but most of the programs I've found are trials :|

Can Gimp compile a series of images as frames into animations?

Any help would be appreciated :)

I dont know, I presume if Photoshop comes with Image studio to make gifs, surely Gimp should have a gif editer... there are several programs which you can alternatively use. Or you can make your frames and then find a freeware or even a web application which combines these into frames..
:-)
I remember once long ago there was an online java app, that put mages in frames and exported them as gif for free, that was way back in 2002 i remember.
so search for free or open source gif editor, or seearch for open source version or similar version to image studio :-). You can also make gifs using corel rave, and other programs, that allow combining frames. There could even be some programs on the PC Format DVDs you colected through the years if you are capped. even a trial 32 day version may do what you need to do :-), but make a restore point before using trial, and roll back when you uninstall and dont need it again, to reduce clutter in registry.
:-)

If I recall correctly you can make one in Windows movie maker. Just have the images ready and set them up in a slideshow format type of thing and then adjust the delay time between images and save as .gif .

Technically it's not, since it's two of the same images only one gets loaded :)

Optimization is tricky, try and keep the colours that is significant, and removed the others that isnt used much or not being used.., its amazing how the file size shrinks..:-) for every image its different. hmm i cant wait if they should ever introduce animated .pngs... since gifs dont have a decent alpha transparency, if you wish to do shadows etc... around objects.
