nice work. I like how you left that middle rib.

Re: cm 690 mod (GT)
more updating
first off all i was going to post this at 2:00 but the power kept going out so i decided to go for a long ride
i started modding my fan controller today
the standard one
i started by taking off all the knobs and tested what it would look like on the mesh drive bay cover
the next thing i had to do is cut all the catching parts on the drive bay cover
and break off the little clips that hold the filter in place then take the filter out
then i had to drill the holes
and here's it when i finished all that
fan controller wthout cover on
finished product

Re: cm 690 mod (GT)
thanks Samaya
i am hoping i can get the side panel done today and will see if i can get some u channel here locally to cover the cut i did,but it is going to be difficult because some of the curves bend inwards.

i thought i could cut out a piece of the panel then solder i new one in place
i just don't know if i can paint on the lead solder

Re: cm 690 mod (GT)
today i did litle but it took a long time
i think it might have been because i was on the spam thread till 12:00
anyways
today i decided to cut out the fan mounts that were left behind and replace them
i found an old pc panel to use as my replacement steel
the origanal parts next to the parts that need to be cut out
top one cut out
and the middle one out
picture of both
then i solder those pieces in place
and here is the result
ive got to sand this one down tomorrow
then hopefully i can mount the plexi panels as they are getting lonely by them selves
TILL THEN cio

Re: cm 690 mod (GT)
Holy shmokes! This gives the word "soldering" an entirely different angle. Did you use one of those gun-type soldering irons?
Methinks you need to apply a bit more heat in order for the solder flux to penetrate better, on the larger piece.

the pen is mighter than the sword, but the word is always final
Re: cm 690 mod (GT)
if (More heat == TRUE)
{
Better solder flow = better connection;
Burnt Flux = Increased Corrosion;
}
else
{
SwitchOnSolderingIron();
}

Re: cm 690 mod (GT)
thanks prime
still owe some people cash
but after that i am going to get me some sleeving and molex connectors (nothing special just black sleeving and black molex connectors from sybaritic
then i will need some black self etching primer (take the "r" away and you get the person who posted before me),
some gloss black paint and a spray can of electric blue for GT stripe on the front and top.
oh and some pop rivets to put the case back together again after spraying is complete
should i make the interior a mirror finished black as well as the outside?
it would be quite cool just would like to see what you guys think.

Re: cm 690 mod (GT)
woot woot side panel finished
i had to redo the midle section
1. i cut it bad
2. the holes looked bad
after i had done that i sprayed it with a black paint to stop rust and stuff.
so here is the panel
and then the top plexi panel put in
and then both plexi panels on my case
