Lindows now Lindash

Post by jee »

The operating system Lindows is now available as Lin---s (pronounced: Lin-dash) in those countries where Microsoft has blocked the availability of the desktop Linux distribution. The new name complies with a recent Amsterdam court ruling, the San Diego company says.

"By removing 3 letters from our product name, Lindows.com will not be creating any confusion regarding Microsoft's supposed trademark on 'windows', and still offer choice in the marketplace," said Lindows.com CEO Michael Robertson in a statement today. "Any action from Microsoft to block Lin---s will show their true intentions are not to protect their trademark, but to eliminate competition and maintain their monopoly."

In the United States, a pending trial scheduled for 1 March was delayed when the courts handed Lindows.com a provisional victory on key legal issues in the case.

Lindows has also opened several new web sites, including Lin---s.com and Lindash.nl for the Netherlands.

"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

That's just plain wierd !

:)

BTW, I tried Lindows and I'm not impressed at all.
An average user would have just as much difficulty installing it as other modern distributions, plus thier 'click 'n run' software they charge a subscription fee for, yet all the software on there is free anyway and widely available.

ah well,

Lin---s ! - heheh :)

Microsoft has always been a bit paranoid when it comes to other companies getting close to their trademarks. I think Lindows is a good idea for the user that wants to break away from windows to linux but not suitable for the average power user.

Lindows is the kakkest thing ever made for linux.

Its just one big money making software for the makers.

Let a new user rather use mandrake, fedora, debian etc where most, to all the software and their updates are free of charge.

I for one hope Lindows goes down the drain, so no tear will be shed from me if Microsoft bans it for life.
