How good is the MSI P35 Neo for overclocking?

Post by rsifan »

AS the title reads, I'm getting a MSI P35 Neo mobo end of the month and I'm thinking of overclocking my Q6600 with this board. Is it a decent board? I know the Platinum is more expensive, but will there be a large difference with overclocking using the neo or the Platiinum.

BTW, can't get a newer board due to low finances.

How far do you want to push?
Soon Google will know everything...including how to divide by zero :(

Thanks guys, not trying to break any records, was hoping to at least get about 2.8GHz. I've heard that you CAN push the Q6600 to about that with the standard cooler. Just not so sure about OC options in the mobo BIOS.

BTW Rob, do you chat on the Twincam forum by any chance? That bike looks very familiar....

iv had my Q6600 at 3ghz with stock cooler, not to bad like 50'c temps. that board has voltage and frequency settings for cpu, NB, and ram so yea overclocking wont be a problem :)
