Anyone have experience of BOTH?
Your impressions/opinions will be appreciated.
I have been using Crystal for yonkers and need to take a decision to move to RS or not.

Reporting Services vs Crystal Reports

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

Each has their place. It depends on what you want to do.

Re: Reporting Services vs Crystal Reports
Doing some rather nifty reporting off a SQL database - report running on Crystal Enterprise to make available to intranet users.
Enterprise is expensive and damn unstable at times.
Have to decide to reinvent the wheel (in this case rewrite ~40 reports with a tool I've never used before) or to motivate buying additional licenses for Cr Enterprise.

Re: Reporting Services vs Crystal Reports
I would stick to Crystal.
I think you do get free Crystal readers from Business objects.
Then instead of using the web server you can just point them to double click the reports.
Glad to year you have 40 reports.
Since i started using crystal report i have made the mistake to build reports as users need them.
In different froms and flavours.
We now sit with over 2500. Its a mess i tell you!
We are upgrading our ERP next year and there is quite a few tables that has changed in the DB.
Dunno what i'm going to do.

Re: Reporting Services vs Crystal Reports
Thanks SBSP,
Actually we have waaay more than 40 - but definitely not 2500, ouch . The ones I rewrite would just be the ones used by multiple users. I've had RS and a local SQL instance installed on my laptop, the idea is that I testdrive RS whilst I'm on leave. Might even be fun?
The tables that are changing, in what way? Would the old 'verify db' and save do the trick?
