Fresh install of Windows XP takes forever to load

Hi Guys,

This weekend I decided to swap hardware configs from Intel 478 to AMD 939. In doing this I also did a fresh installation of Windows XP, even during the first reboot it would take forever to load into Windows.

Once Windows loads everything seems to work without any problems. I thought that it might be the CD that I used and tried a different one, same problem still persist.

I did a search this morning real quik and came upon this.

Now I don't have a card reader, could it possibly be a USB device? I wasn't home on Sunday and did not have a lot of time to do any kind of diagnostics or play arround with settings.

Has anyone experienced something like this before? or maybe you'd have a suggestion.

Somethings I probably should mention.

Rig:
MSI K8N Neo2 Plat
AMD 3500+ (939)
2x 512MB (1x 333, 1x 400)
Sparkle Geforce 6800 128MB
160GB Maxtor IDE HDD
Samsung DVD-RW
40GB Toshiba drive.

Machine is connected to a network although it was disconnected upon the second install.

The first install was from the XP Black disc (I do have a valid CAL) the second was from a Volume Liscence Disc.

Is the PC connected to the network on normal boot-up?

If yes, try unplugging as the DHCP service is maybe taking its time to assign an IP-address. If this is the case use a static IP with your PC.

PCdoctors dude had the same issue
