Hello People i am planning to buy a HD4870.should i wait for the 1GB version or should i buy the 512MB version :roll:

Whats the price difference? I say if it's not much get the 1gig as then you can pile of the specs. I agree with Hex_Rated thou. Doesn't help to have tons of RAM if you don't run a high res.
Soon Google will know everything...including how to divide by zero :(

Im sure you'll need it soon enough. but like with the 3850 it took 6 months for 1gb model to surface. can you want that long for sweetass graphics?

I am benching the HD4870 now,

WOW its a killer card.

Check out the feature in the Sept issue, GTX 280 vs GTX 260 vs HD4870 vs HD4850

For rAge anything will do, I think Crysis is the most stressful game you'll play and that runs on your 8500. At 22" I'd go for the 1Gb version if it arrives before rAge, otherwise the 512 version will do fine

asus where?

sitting here on this high end rig running an old 6800 gs... i'm waiting for the 1gb v. but i think, if i don't hear any news regarding a release date, i'll rock a dual 4870... i really want the asus though

ASUS is generally good. I've never had problems with them, they even sometimes come with uprated cooling out the box. Also, 3 year warranty is a good idea.
